It wasn’t a thrilling game, far from it, but Ghana became the first African country to win the FIFA Under 20 World Cup, doing so with a man less against Brazil.
In a previous post, i did say that if Ghana made it to the semi-final, then they will go all the way and win the trophy.
It wasn’t an easy match, but what in this world is easy. They held their nerves after going a man down when Ado was sent off in the first half to win by sudden dead penalty shootout.
Guys, am so happy, am off to get myself a little drunk. Talk you after premier league matches tomorrow.

I am so thrilled that an African country is playing in the final of this world cup. After watching the Ghanaians play, i knew they would get to the final. I have to say here that some of their displays in defense is worrying. They score a lot of goals, but they also have lapses in their defense that needs to be corrected before Friday’s final.

If we go by what the Brazilian coach has said, then there will be lots of goals. Below is an extract from an interview after their win over Costa Rica in the semi-final.

“I’m fully aware that we haven’t played a fantastic match,” he said after the game.

“But I’m very happy that we’ve reached the final, which was our main goal.”

Brazil have scored 14 goals compared to Ghana’s 16 so far and Rogerio thinks it is the attacking qualities of both teams which marks them out.

“Ghana has reached the final and has done so with all the qualities that they have,” he said.

“This shows a lot about the team. They deserve to be there.

“Being a team that plays offensively just like Brazil, this should be good for the show and for the kind of match we’ll have on Friday.

“What eventually happens is that teams like Brazil and Ghana, who can really attack, will eventually reach the final – as they have here.”

Personally, i think the Brazilians have not really played like Brazilians teams play, but they have scored lots of goals.

I also think that Ghana having scored more goals than any team in that Tournament is my favorite to win the cup for the first time for Africa. If the maintain their game plan minus conceding late goals, then the cup is theirs.

I don’t know if you guys are feeling the same way as me. Ghana can go all the way and win this world under 20′s.
They are not playing fantastic football, but they are wining their matches, and scoring goals too.
Watching them beat the Koreans was sweet, as an African. It only brought back sweet memories of Nigerian youth teams when they used to slaughter teams on their way to winning.
As African brothers my heart and support is for them, and i believe that if they continue the way they are, they will win this cup. I have seen Brazil play, and i am not impressed. The only thing going for them is they can score goals like Brazilian teams normally do. Their match against Germany was quite a dull affair. They could not even beat the Germans in regular time, and had to make do with an extra time goal to book their place in the last 4.
As for Ghana, if they just keep their composure, am sure they will beat Hungary and beat Brazil in the final.
Africa has waited too long for this particular trophy.
