Inter Milan are Champions of Europe

Inter Milan Players celebrate their Champions League Triumph

This was not spectacular, but hey! what did you expect from a Mourinho team. Did people actually think that Inter will let this one slip them by after such a long wait?

I was not at Real’s magnificent Bernabeu stadium, no where near it, but i was with one stubborn cousin of mine who has been crying over Chelsea’s defeat by Inter earlier in the champions league.

He was so adamant  Bayern will win. I usualy don’t like giving match predictions, but he forced me to predict this one, and i can proudly say that yours truely predicted a 2 goal win for Inter in the form of a 2-0 or 3-1 win.
I didn’t bet money, but i just wanted him to know why Chelsea will have to change their mentality to win the champions league.

He started taunting me when Bayern started pressing Inter in the first half, but in football, you don’t win a match on points, you need to score the goals to win. So while the Germans did more of the playing, Inter found a opening and Milito finished spectacularly. Another Milito goal in the second half, and that was it.

It means Mourinho, who won the cup with Porto in 2004, becomes the third man in history to win it with two clubs.

He joins Ernst Happel and Ottmar Hitzfeld in earning that remarkable accolade – at the age of only 47 – and, in doing so, ends a wait of more than 45 years for the Nerazzurri to regain Europe’s top prize.

That he did so by overcoming his mentor Louis van Gaal, with whom he worked at Barcelona in the 1990s, in the process only served to complete the ultimate season of personal vindication for the Portuguese.

So curtains on this season and the UCL, and curtains on me, for the night belong to Milito, Mourinho and INTER MILAN, the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS for 2009/2010 season.
